Spinster Photog Lampoons Traditional Life Expectations in Mannequin Family Photos | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it

"Enough pressure to conform will send anyone packing." That's how photographer and art director Suzanne Heintz begins the description of her viral, satirical and funny photo series Life Once Removed.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

While "Spinsterhood" is still a part of our society, it would take Suzanne Heintz and her mannequin family, to make a statement in her photo series. Trekking around with her mannequin man and daughter just goes to show, how all those happy tourist like family vacation photos...are not exactly of this era. And we love Suzanne for it.

How the heck can this picture be a real photo without any Photoshop? | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it
You're not looking at a digital painting or a photo that's been manipulated with Photoshop or some sort of hyper real painting here, you're looking at a real photograph taken with a real camera. No Photoshopping at all.

Via Zymymar
Kitty Fisher's insight:

Photoshop can not always take all the credit. The photographer of this image, happened to take a photo of what his simple set up revealed. A sheet of glass, some droplets, a cereal box and some m&m's and light.

It is an ability to sufficiently match you vision in 10 seconds, without dragging a bulky camera that needs to be adjusted with f-stops, aperture, shutter speeds and ISO settings. Mobile photography allows the images in everyday life to transcend into quite millions of other people's screens in a couple of moments, literally.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The explaination of Mobile Photography, changes between the concepts of whether it's good or bad. But this article sheds an interesting light towards what it can do, how it surrounds us everyday to an art form that other wise would take longer on film.

Portraits: Shoot Details and Evoke Imagination - Digital Photography School

Portraits: Shoot Details and Evoke Imagination - Digital Photography School | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it
Sometimes great portraits don’t need to include the face of your subject – something as simple as a person’s hand can tell you a lot about them. A shot like this evokes the imagination of those viewing your image and tells a story.
Kitty Fisher's insight:

Who would have thought to select someone's hands to showcase in  a photo, about anyone? Having the use of a camera doesn't mean we still can't make the imagination work to reveal what the story could possibly be.

9 [More] Adventure Sports Photographers You Need to Check Out | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it

In my last post, I said that Adventure Photography doesn't get much attention; however, based on all of your feedback and reactions it seems I may have been mistaken. Perhaps it's just quiet attention? Regardless, I wanted to go ahead and compile a second list because, as I said in the first post (and as many of you pointed out) there were clearly some people missing.

Now, with a little more time for people to respond, I've been able to rectify the problem and include a lot of the great photographers that got left out the first time.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

Adventure Photography is a quietly expressed field, yet the images speak volumes in the amount of times it takes to create a specific timing, point of day and event that will take place. Read about the 9 photographers that will make you want to go out in the field.

Jumpstart Your Photography: Start a 365 Project - Digital ... | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it
It's a good time to ask yourself; “What do I want out of my photography this year?” For most of us, the response might be to improve our skills, to be inspired, and to find more time and energy to pursue our passions.

The most important part of a 365 project is the commitment to daily photography. If you truly want to improve your photography and push yourself, then you need to be using your camera, often! Accepting the challenge of using your camera everyday will help make photography a commitment and even a habit for you.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The 365 project may just be the idea you need to the new year. There are several different types of the 365 project, finding the one that either speaks to you or you find most appealing would be a good start. Why it's important is because you have to be committed everyday to taking a photo. Practice makes perfect.

Things All Photographers Can Learn From Henri Cartier-Brensson's Style

Things All Photographers Can Learn From Henri Cartier-Brensson's Style | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it

But street photography is not the only theme can benefit from his style. There are many other styles as well.

Using one main lens most of the time helps you develop an artistic vision which when mastered can be used with other lenses. If you never use one lens on a regular basis but instead change from lens to lens every time you tend to lose sight of the composition of the scene and focus too much on the reach or capabilities of the lens. The lens dictates how the scene will be captured instead of you.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

I think it's safe to say that we forget, we can learn from the past. And with Henri Cartier-Bresson, who was an early adopter of the 35 mm format camera, he ultimately showed the world candid photography.

Where later on he confronted and resolved, artists and compositional form.

Get Inspired, Be Challenged – Three Photography Books To Push Your Creativity Into 2014 And Beyond @ Weeder

Get Inspired, Be Challenged – Three Photography Books To Push Your Creativity Into 2014 And Beyond @ Weeder | Mobile Photography | Scoop.it

Some photographers have the wonderful ability to marry creative technique with technical application, and then convey this to us in a way that is genuinely interesting and educational. I picked up three such books this year and would describe them all "inspirational" a wonderful mix of both inspiring work, combined with a high level of educational value. If you're looking for a little learnings as well as something to inspire in the New Year, I can heartily recommend all three.

Kitty Fisher's insight:

The rarity that it is to come across photography books, and great photography books...well we wouldn't be here talking about it if we didn't think they had some educational value to offer. Check out these three books, between Gregory Heisler, Lindsay Adler and Tim Cooper.
