The AirPods are more of a mixed bag. They're fine for listening to wireless audio, but they're expensive. They pair easily with your iPhone, but you still need your iPhone to easily control them. They fit well in most ears, but boy do they look goofy.
Sounds like a lot of concessions to make just to get rid of a cable.

Turning toys like these into platform by making them evolutive is super smart. Parrot attempted to do that with their drones and it's a highly desirable outcome for gadgets or device manufacturers.

I'm a big fan of standing desks. Although their direct benefits over sitting are somewhat iffy, they encourage you to move around and be just a little more

A calculator? Seriously? Still waiting to receive mine but if these are the best app, it's a little underwhelming.

It's going to take another year or two, not just for Apple but for the market, to understand what it is that consumers really want these smartwatches to do for them.
Additional data points on how the Apple Watch is failing to replicate the iPad success (see also this chart). On the bright side for Apple, it appears that they now own this market by making more than half the sales of smartwatches. But the market hasn't really been creating and the category's still not clear for consumers.
