The largest earthquake instrumentally recorded had a magnitude of 9.5 and occurred in southern Chile on May 22, 1960. It produced a tsunami that killed people around the Pacific Basin - in Hawaii, California, Japan, the Philippines and other locations.

Hadrian's Wall (Vallum Hadriani) was a defensive fortification built by the Roman Empire to seperate the province of Britainnia from the northern lands of Caledonia. Construction begun in AD 122 during the reign of Emperor Hadrian and ran from the River Tyne near the North Sea to the Solway Firth on the Irish Sea.
