Si nos preguntamos qué tipo de herramienta es Edmodo, seguramente la primera respuesta que nos surge es la siguiente: una plataforma educativa. Comenzaremos comparándola con Moodle, puesto que es, probablemente, la plataforma educativa más utilizada e interesante del momento. Compartimos aquí el análisis. Via Net-Learning

The paper identifies a set of universal instructional design (UID) principles appropriate to distance education (DE) and tailored to the needs of instructional designers and instructors teaching online. These principles are then used to assess the accessibility level of a sample online course and the availability of options in its LMS platform (Moodle) to increase course accessibility. Numerous accessibility-sensitive plug-in modules are found to be available to Moodle users, though relatively few features were included in the sample course analysed. This may be because they have not been made available to instructors at the institutional level. The paper offers a series of recommendations to improve the accessibility of online DE to learners with diverse abilities, disabilities, and needs.

The MoodleMoot will take place from August 23-25 online via WizIQ Virtual Classroom on Moodle. The MMVC13 presentations will be conducted in English, Spanish, German, and French (other languages are welcome). You are invited to join the presentations before the sessions to ensure that you get the video recordings. After the event (August 26, 2013), you may view the lecture sessions and recordings by joining the MMVC13 course on WizIQ and learn at your own pace. The content and class recordings will remain on the WizIQ course area indefinitely. They will be removed from this Moodle website after the event as we get ready for MMVC14.
Very interesting MoodleMoot for whom are working those days.

Hace unas semanas explicaba con un par de screencasts cómo realizar una copia de seguridad y cómo reiniciar un curso Moodle, tareas indispensables antes de empezar la actividad en nuestras aulas virtuales durante este curso. Ahora «solo» nos queda empezar a publicar recursos y actividades para los alumnos, no sin antes hacer unos pequeños ajustes en nuestros espacios virtuales.
En estos 6 nuevos screencasts explico paso a paso cómo ajustar las preferencias del curso, cómo publicar archivos y enlaces, el proceso de «incrustación» de contenidos multimedia (vídeos y documentos) y cómo crear tareas para los alumnos, para que puedan hacernos llegar sus trabajos en formato digital.

En esta intervención, fechada hoy día 26 de junio, Martin Dougiamas anuncia la disponibilidad para descarga de la versión 2.3 de Moodle.
Tras las pruebas de las últimas semanas se trata de la versión estable para aplicar en producción con muchas mejoras que afectan a funcionalidades y usabilidad, incorporando muchos procedimientos de arrastrar y soltar que facilitan enormemente la utilización.

Conclusiones del autor del post (Mario Almonte) estudiante de un Master de Educación y Nuevas Tecnologías:
"Puestos en faena, mi conclusión es que no existen 5 “mejores” plataformas de teleformación (LMS) porque la elección de una u otra plataforma e-learning vendrá dada por las necesidades concretas de la institución o acción formativa en sus dimensiones organizativa, pedagógica, tecnológica y económica, descritas por De Benito en 2006."
