Just posted: Photoshop CS6: Top 5 Features for Photographers | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

Though it was many years ago, I can still remember the excitement that greeted the launch of Photoshop 3 – this was the first version to offer layers, forever changing the way we work with digital images. At the time there were even some within Adobe who regarded Photoshop as being essentially feature complete. I mean, what else could customers want Photoshop to do?

Adobe admits using 'synthetic blur' image in deblur demo

Adobe admits using 'synthetic blur' image in deblur demo | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"Adobe has admitted an image used in its 'image deblur' presentation was artificially blurred for the purposes of the demonstration. The company said the blur on the image was 'more complicated than anything we can simulate using Photoshop's blur capabilities.' It described the move as 'common practice in research' and defended the use of the image because 'we wanted it to be entertaining and relevant to the audience.' The other images shown were the result of camera shake, it said."

Lightroom 4.1 – RAW Conversion Issues With Fuji X-Pro1 | Todd Owyoung

Lightroom 4.1 – RAW Conversion Issues With Fuji X-Pro1 | Todd Owyoung | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

... for the most part, these smearing artifacts won’t show up in smaller prints and certainly not for online usage, but all the same my advice would be to hold off on important RAW conversions until Adobe addresses this issue. However, if you don’t mind exporting images and updating your images once a solution to this issue comes about, the fine detail missing in Lightroom 4.1 won’t been seen in smaller print sizes.

Lightroom 4 beta now available

Lightroom 4 beta now available | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it

"The Lightroom team is proud to introduce the fourth major version of the product designed for and by photographers. It was 6 years ago today when we introduced the very first public beta of Lightroom at MacWorld on January 9, 2006. (Yes, it was Mac only, smaller in footprint than most raw files and didn’t have a crop tool!) Since 2006 we’ve been hard at work improving an application that’s intended to be as easy to use as it is powerful. This release builds on the fundamental performance architecture and image quality improvements in Lightroom 3 to provide a truly complete workflow solution. I kept hearing from customers that they love Lightroom but needed to leave the Lightroom to complete X, Y or Z. Lightroom 4 tackles those issues with improvements to image organization, adjustment tools and comprehensive publishing options."
