An Update on the 75+mp Camera in the Wild

An Update on the 75+mp Camera in the Wild | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it
It exists, but will it come to market?
We have confirmed that a test camera with around 80mp is definitely in the wild. A few things to note about the camera. It’s apparently in an EOS-1 body and has a larger than 3.2″ LCD on the back.

Canon EOS 5Dmk3 DSLR rumor update from NorthLight Images | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it
5Dmk3 rumours - Collection of info and links about the replacement for the Canon 5D mark2 the 5D mark 3 or 5D X...

20th We've hearing of NDAs expiring on the 2nd of March.
Now we also hear of a 5D3 (and only a 5D3) spec for a launch on the 2nd
22MP, 6fps, 61 focus points (41 cross) same as 1DX system
100-25600 Basic ISO 1024k dots LCD display 3:2 wide (or 3.2" ?)
Best Video quality in a DSLR.
After several different suggestions pointing to the start of March I'm wondering if we will indeed get an announcement on the 2nd. Fridays are not a traditional day for announcements, but perhaps we will see a 5D3 celebrating 25 years of EOS?...

Fujifilm camera chief adds weight to interchangeable lens rumors

The head of Fujifilm's camera division has suggested the company may make a return to interchangeable lens cameras. In an interview with news agency Reuters, Takeshi Higuchi stressed the importance of launching 'luxury' models to help establish the company as a high-profile brand. In addition he discusses the company's reasoning for looking beyond China for manufacturing. However, his comments about having the in-house capabilities to develop its own cameras may reduce the speculation about the company producing models for pre-existing camera systems.

Nikon D800 delayed till October 2011, D4 in early 2012?

According to Quesabesde the Nikon D700 replacement is postponed till October 2011 and the Nikon D4 is expected to be announced in early 2012. This delay was caused by the earthquake in Japan.
In the past few weeks I have been receiving conflicting reports on a potential delay for the D800 and I am not convinced that this is the case. I still believe there will be a major Nikon announcement in late August. The Nikon mirrorless solution is probably delayed based on previous statements from Nikon representatives indicating a potential March/April announcement.

Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G website now removed from Nikon Imaging

Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G website now removed from Nikon Imaging | Photography Gear News | Scoop.it
Approximately 4 hours ago, a new lens appeared on Nikon Imaging website: Nikkor AF-S 50mm f/1.8G. I am still not sure if this is a mistake or this lens is really officially announced. No major website has reported this news yet and there is no official press release from Nikon. The lens is not listed on other Nikon websites.

Updates:

One of the sample images posted on Nikon’s website is from Deborah Sandidge (published online on her blog on March 18th, 2011). The images were removed few minutes after publishing the links online. Blog post is still available on Google cache.
A week ago there was a post on the Chinese forum Xitek that this lens will be announced soon.
Features:

- A fast, single-focal-length lens with normal 50mm focal length
- Large maximum aperture of f/1.8
- Newly developed optical system employing an aspherical lens element
- Silent Wave Motor (SWM) realizes quiet AF operation
- Two focus modes are available — M/A (quick switching from AF to MF) and M (manual focus)

Could this new lens rumor be the premise of a cheap FX Nikon DLSR?

Nikon D4 and D400 in August, D700 replacement still in the air

The big announcement in August will be for a new Nikon D4 and D400 DSLR cameras. The Nikon D700 replacement will probably be announced at a later date, maybe even in 2012. I know that this is not the news most of you want to hear, but it actually makes perfect sense because the Nikon D3 was announced together with the D300 back in August of 2007. Nikon is a very methodical company and if the D3 and D300 pro level DSLRs are on a 4 years life cycle, the D700 should be replaced in 2012 since it was announced in 2008. Nikon also likes to announce higher end models before using the same tech in a low end versions (for example 12MP DX sensor in D300->D90, 16.2MP DX sensor in D7000->D5100, 12MP FX sensor D3->D700), so don’t expect the Nikon D700 replacement to come out with a better technology before the D4. The D300s replacement will probably use the new 24MP sensor from Sony which further confirms this rule.

Another question here is: does the “S” update count as a replacement? The D3 and the D300 were “replaced” by the D3s and D300s but for the most part those were just minor updates. The D3s and D300s were announced in 2009, approximately two years after the D3/D300. There was never a D700s. Maybe there is still a possibility for a deviation of the D700 this year (let’s say D700s: D3s sensor + video), but my source was clear that the “real” D700 replacement will come out in 2012.

[NR] probability ranking: 70%
